Merci beaucoup mon ami cher, thanks for taking the time to browse my humble little space. My name is Kaye & i am a foodie like you :) I am passionate about cooking + baking, about herbs + spices, french & italian cooking, about dutch ovens, the waffling smell of freshly baked cakes, about   chocolates, a cup of good coffee, photography and above all-
good laughter & friendship whilst enjoying these simple   pleasures in life...
I started cooking at the age of 10. I was inspired by my parents cooking & learnt the basics under my mother-in-law's guidance. I remember my love for cookbooks and although we have limited ingredients I tried to replicate the dishes by substituting something for another. Therefore I am by heart, an experimental cook,  I like variety & fusion.
Spanish & Chinese are dominant influences in my country and I still carry that with me but I have to say I fell in love with Italian. I worked in an Italian restaurant in NZ under a very good Italian chef & I got to know it better- the taste, methods etc.... This blog is an eclectic mix & most recipes are my own or traditional recipes with a twist. I'm not a puritan I like to tweak recipes to my taste.

“I hate the notion of a secret recipe. Recipes are by nature derivative and meant to be shared - that is how they improve, are changed, how new ideas are formed. To stop a recipe in it's tracks, to label it "secret" just seems mean.” ― Molly Wizenberg

KAYE's PLACE has been online 9 years now & I consider it my online recipe journal. I post sporadically unfortunately.
During & after my degree, I took a long sabbatical from blogging however two of my daughters who are now all grown-up & living outside of home, nagged me to continue and update this blog because they are missing the taste of home cooking. So, I am officially back to dish out recipes from my kitchen + other recipes that I have sourced from the net.
I do hope you use this blog often, my vision is to 'simplify' the instructions to encourage & inspire people to whip up good food from their own kitchen especially first time cooks.
I do the food photography myself & a handful are googled :) BTW- Explore the tabs- plenty of inspiration there + the kitchen conversions which you will find useful :)
Remember cooking is fun & don't forget to to turn up the music while something scrummy is bubbling on the stovetop!
